SemBioSys Genetics Inc. is a development stage agricultural biotechnology company. Botaneco, a former spin-out company of SemBioSys, unveiled its first commercial product Hydresia™ in October 2007 followed by the launch of Hydresia™ G2 in April 2008. In 2004, SemBioSys entered into a funded agreement with Arcadia to develop high GLA-expressing safflower plant lines using a proprietary Arcadia gene. Arcadia is now responsible for the commercialization of high GLA safflower oil and had commercial quantities available for sale in 2010. Under the terms of the agreement, SemBioSys is entitled to receive royalties from Arcadia on GLA-associated commercial product sales, as well as milestone payments.
